Genesis 2 introduces  the settlement of the kingdom of nature and God’s resting from the work of creation. God  has completed the six days work of creation and rested.

He did not rest as one who is exhausted, weary, furnished or disgusted but as one who is completely satisfied and happy with all he had done.

 So he was well-pleased .This remind us that God is never worn out. God Is Not exhausted or tired.

His strength never fails. He is rather full of strength at all times.

Isaiah realised this when he affirms….The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the Earth.

He will not grow tired or wearing, and his understanding no one Can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow

tired and weary and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar like eagles, they will run and not grow weary ,they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40 verse 28-31).

God introduced rest after his work for some other purpose not because he is tired and needs to recuperate from a substation.

 First, rest was introduced to review God’s nature to us. He is not a mediocre God. He is not a God that complete that which he had begun,  and perfectly too.

He never ceases  from work until he has brought it to perfection. This regulation motivate us to commit our lives and affairs

into God’s hand with utmost confidence that he is able to look after them very well.

Paul expressed this knowledge and Faith when he explains:” I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed and I’m

convinced that it is able to guide what I have entrusted to him for that day”( 2 Timothy 1 verse 12).

This understanding about God’s nature will increase our faith in him and bring to us the hope and knowledge that God is able to finish the work, which He has begun in us.

 It help us to realise our own limitations.Unlike,  God were mediocre. We start most project and never complete them.

We become so weary, exhausted and discourage that we throw in the towel to preserve our mortal life.

Sometime, sickness, faith and death hinder us from finishing a task which we commenced, no matter our commitment and vision. we

sometimes have a vision and work towards it enthusiastically but gradually we become disillusioned when it becomes very difficult for us to realise our vision.

We complain, shift from our vision or drop it all together. We may lose count of the

number of times we failed to complete a good job and this enables us to admit that what we have been able to achieve is through God’s special grace.

This, none should boast of his achievement, apart from giving God the glory. But you can trust God to overcome some mediocrity in our lives. When He says yes, none can say no.

when he opens a door, none cqn shut it . He makes a good way in the ocean and desert. No power in heaven and earth can hinder his plans and work.

We often listen to what our flesh of people are saying and become deaf to what God is saying and then wander away from God’s design for us.

We can trust God for everything about us. In times of sickness we can trust him for divine

and perfect healing of minds, souls and body. When God put his grace in US and carries us through our difficulty, he is never exhausted.

God’s rest remind us of the need to rest. God has provided us the night for rest and the day for work.

We must rest after our daily work, whenever we work during the day or do the night shift.

We must rest to be refreshed, that we may continue the next task which God has assigned to us.  This will help us to live longer and healthy.

Many Christians today lose sight of rest.  many business leaders denounced their members for resting after a very long walk or service during the day or night.

 such demand their members to continue with work and worship  in the night or day when they should be resting and getting refreshed.

The slogan is that the devil never rest so why should Christians res5 when they have a constant battle with the devil.

This understanding ignores the fact that God never sleeps nor slumbers.

It disregards the fact that  God actually fight our battles for us when he gives us rest and with us when he requires us to be awake.

God is at work so that we can have some rest and get refreshed. Jesus reaffirmed the need for Christ when he asked his disciples to

withdraw and rest…. come with me by yourself to a quiet place and get some rest.

So they went by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.( mark 6 verse 31 to 32). Jesus gave this instruction after he has sent out the twelve disciples formation.

The power of God was displayed through their ministry.many people were healed of

their infirimaties and this led many to follow them wherever they went that they could hardly eat.

 The result shows that the work entrusted to them is being accomplished, yet Jesus knew that if they do not take a break and

recuperate they may not have enough strength and figure to carry on the great task ahead of them 

 Above all, the rest introduced by God here remind us that we shall finally enjoy internal rest with God in his kingdom.

After all our wonder in this world we have the blessed end of saying and resting forever in the presence of God.

But in order to get into this rest,we must learn to have a daily rest in God’s presence and be surrounded by his glory.

This means that our lives need to be focused on God so that we can accomplish his will for our lives.

We are not created to wonder and grow in darkness all through  our our lifetime. We are rather made in the image of God for the diffinite purpose.

 Understanding the purpose for which we have been created and pursuing it restraints us from the life of wandering and direct us to the life of Wonder.

This give us a preview and experience of the internal rest we will enjoy. Yet no experience here in the body can be sufficient to figure the internal rest in God.

We therefore strive to attain this blessed hope of internal rest in God not as wondering

people but as people who have been admitted into the wonder of God through our faith in Christ Jesus.

And our song shall ever be

How wonderful
