Our being alive today is due to God’s incontestable ability to deliver. Think of all the difficulties and dangers you went through last year and the eventual testimony that turned out.
God does not take pleasure in the captivity of his children. He is not happy with their afflictions because he has nothing to gain from it.
Isaiah 52:1-6
1. Awake, awake, Zion,
clothe yourself with strength
Put on your garments of splendor,
Jerusalem, the holy city.
The uncircumcised and defiled
will not enter you again.
2 Shake off your dust;
rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem.
Free yourself from the chains on your neck,
Daughter Zion, now a captive.
3 For this is what the Lord says:
“You were sold for nothing,
and without money(M) you will be redeemed.”
4 For this is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“At first my people went down to Egypt to live;
lately, Assyria has oppressed them.
5 “And now what do I have here?” declares the Lord.
“For my people have been taken away for nothing,
and those who rule them mock,”
declares the Lord.
“And all day long
my name is constantly blasphemed.
6 Therefore my people will know(R) my name;
therefore in that day they will know
that it is I who foretold it.
Yes, it is I.”
Anything that makes you too wail and weep instead of worshipping God is an error and God is set to correct it.
In assuring the jews of His ability to deliver, he reminded them of what he did with pharaoh of Egypt and sennacherib of Assyria; and promised to do it again.
For us to enjoy this victory, we need to wake up from a spiritual slumber, break ties with the uncircumcised and unclean,
shake ourselves from the dust of iniquity and break loose from the hangover’s of yesterday .
